Handy part for bodywork and trim

Easy installation after drilling an eyelet hole on the original fastener. I think you could hammer the tongue in, but it only took a few minutes to drill the hole on the drill press. Had the hole been drilled at the factory, this would have been an easy five.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Availability of replacement

Didn't work as expected!

Was very happy with the first one I bought, worked great on the driver's side, ordered another for the passenger side and found it didn't work on that side as the bracket is different , it bends the mount when you close the latch and the aluminum tab doesn't stay in place. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Small things

Requires light trimming or drilling to work

Works great on my 15 year old F150 Supercab after drilling a slot for the tab that is on the actual release mechanism. I could probably just hammer this tab in, but I didn't want to risk the trigger disengaging. The installation took about 15 minutes in total. After finding a matching torx (t30) and cutting a hole in it.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Rear seat release for 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew

Website says it doesn't fit but seats are unchanged from 2019. Easy installation but the strap you can grab to open is too short. I added a bit of string to make it easier to pull to untie. It could be the truck itself, but in order to close the seat you have to hit it hard to lock it. Well worth buying for the price as trying to open the seat without it is a real pain.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • boring packaging

Great but needs adjustment

Good quality. Same as units that cost twice as much. Only catch: Doesn't fit my 2020 F-250 perfectly. It looks like Ford added a pull-tab to the locking mechanism, which wasn't present in years past. I had to cut a hole for this bar to fit the device. Looking at other brands on the market it seems like they don't have a hole for this tab either. I still recommend this edition.

  • Useless features

I want to kiss the inventor!

Oh my god you don't realize how brilliant this thing is until you start sweating trying to find that silly little button! So yes, first you need to remove the seat back, so that will take you 25 minutes and 5 minutes to install this thing. Depending on your model/year, you may need to "upgrade" something, but it's nothing major. Yes it is a five star machine! Get it before you need it!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank

Requires additional installation steps, but worth it.

To be fair, Ford failed. And if it weren't for the people who make these aftermarket fasteners, we'd still be fooling around with wires and broken joints. Just note that 1) you need a torx screwdriver to remove the factory screws, 2) I had to grind down the thickness of the red hook to avoid binding (see photo), and 3) I applied some lube, to solve the little one. If I hadn't made sure everything worked before closing the seatback I would be back where I started with a stuck and VERY difficult…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Hole diameter too small - otherwise fits 2020 F150

Others have written that the base plate has no hole for the shackle but if you place the shackle on top of the base plate of the original shackle (as shown in the pictures ) ) and not from below, you do not need to cut or modify the strut. However, the diameter of the hole in the aluminum end piece is too small for a pen. Luckily the pin is steel so just push firmly and twist and it will poke through the aluminum bit until it clicks into place. So not a perfect fit, but can be made to fit with…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not all will fit

Break the hacksaw

This is definitely a cheap fake, and sometimes a cheap fake is just as good as an expensive one, but it's not. I had to make some modifications to get this working on my limited edition 13 f150. The bolt holes line up and the latch itself was good, but I had to drill a hole for the pin, which wasn't a big deal. As I was about to reinstall everything I quickly found that the belt guide was touching the back of the seat, again not a big deal. I went and bent it to fit and not rub against it…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Weight
