So far so good in equestrian sport

Only used once so far, but it worked well with the gnarled hooves of my pygmy goat. It was actually a bit difficult to crop some areas; I'm not sure if it's because I have small or weak hands, or because Thelma had big, rough hooves. The guy did the job for me. "That's what she said." ๐Ÿ˜‚

Works well after a few years

Works well after a few years of use. We don't have many hooves to trim, so if you have a whole herd of goats to trim, I'm not sure it'll stay sharp. So far he's done a good job trimming the hooves on the goats we had. Easy to use for my teenager. I'm sure you could buy a more expensive trimmer, but if you only use it occasionally like we do, that's fine.

Reliable hoof trimmers.

I had a couple of these that I used for years but they mysteriously disappeared. They are used for goats. After ordering another type and they barely cut through the hoof I went and ordered another pair of these. I make hooves very often and they work great. Blade without notches. People would happily borrow this pair in place of their green handles at a popular pet food store. Great price and great product.

Pros
  • Good product for the price

  • Obsolete model

Not as great as expected.

Received these today and was happy to give our goats a subsequent hoof trim. The reviews were terrific, so I decided I'd cut her overgrown hooves like butter. Unfortunately, they were VERY difficult to use. I'm pretty strong overall, but getting them to cut through even the thinnest parts of the hoof will take some serious effort. Very disappointing! They just didn't feel very sharp. I've passed them on to my manly husband and he didn't find them that difficult to use, but it certainly wasn't a

Brilliant! about equestrianism

Having struggled with two different hoof trimmers - one recommended by our goat vet - this is a miracle tool! I would give nine stars if I could. So easy to use! It fits in the hand - others are too long to be easily manipulated. It is sharp and comes off the hoof easily. The nose is slightly rounded to claw without poking. It took us less time to shear all four of our goats than it did previously to make one with other tools. More than worth the price just for looking after our goats andโ€ฆ

A little too small

I was hesitant to buy these or the full size hoof scissors. I now have four belly pigs living with me and one of them that was recently rescued has grown a lot of hooves. It has a bigger belly but from what I've read in other reviews these seem like a better choice. Well they are definitely sharp and durable. However, I'm not sure I expected them to be that small, and my hands (also small) aren't big enough to pick up more than a couple of hooves at a time. With my relaxed, well-socializedโ€ฆ

Overall 5 stars. But not exactly like the Shepherds review!

The recommendations I read said they had a serrated blade for the hoof grip and a smooth blade for cutting and trimming the hooves. Instead, it comes with two durable SMOOTH blades that are razor sharp and ready to go. While serrated blades are technically convenient for those learning or infrequently using, this model's smooth, thick, sharp blades make it ideal for those who need to beat 80 hooves a day every two months. They are production quality AND THEY GOT VERY SHARP! The angled bladesโ€ฆ

The best hoof trimmers I've ever had. Never had a problem; they work GREAT!

I've had goats for about eight years and always trim their hooves myself. I started with an old Italian hoof clip and they were terrible. They hurt my hands and painfully crunched the hard parts of the hoof. They didn't even cut the sole or heel of the hoof unless I cut so deep that they actually cut and bled the goat. In the end I found it funny and bought these hoof trimmers. These trimmers are AWESOME! They are sharp and the perfect size; fits comfortably in my hand and is just the perfectโ€ฆ

  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
