What is Ripio
Ripio is a Latin American crypto company founded in Argentina in 2013. It runs the Ripio app (buy, sell, custody, card, yields), the Ripio Trade exchange, an OTC desk and, more recently, local-currency stablecoins (wFIAT), on/off ramps and crypto-as-a-service for businesses. It acquired the Brazilian exchange BitcoinTrade in January 2021; BitcoinTrade later became Ripio Trade.

- Argentina's CNV PSAV registration is for anti-money-laundering control and, per Ripio's own notice, does not mean CNV licensing or supervision of the activity. ↗
- In Brazil, Ripio Brasil's application for authorisation as a virtual asset broker is under review by the Central Bank of Brazil (footer, October 2026). ↗
- Peso balances in Argentina are payment accounts held by Digipayments SAU, which is not a bank; they are not bank deposits and lack deposit guarantees. ↗
- Ripio's 2026 home page focuses on business services: local-currency stablecoins (wARS, wBRL, wCOP, wMXN, wCLP, wPEN), instant ramps and crypto-as-a-service. ↗
