We just got the product so I cannot vouch for how long it lasts. I actually had it set up to return it because we could not get it to work. After an hour I asked my husband if it could be possible that they messed up the wire colors. We tried again and switched the wires and it worked. So this is my second unit. First one had some issues and was not working correctly. Would get stuck in menu and every time you went to touch a function it would switch to something else. Thought it was the software. Sent in and got a replacement with newer software. Unit worked great for about 4 days. Now when powered up unit keeps turning it self off and on. Second time buying one of these. I love them, 2 chairs in one and I can cuddle up next to the hubby. Easy to pack up and carry. My cover is back on my chair before everyone else has theirs over the theirs. I bought this to use with a voice recorder so I could dictate for transcription with Dragon Naturally Speaking. For the first week, it worked great. I didn't use it much for a few months, and when I returned yesterday suddenly the transcriptions looked like gibberish.
