Review on J B Weld 8277 White Pack by Jake Davies

Fixed hot tub leak (using 3 JB WaterWeld wands at a time)

Fixed a leak in the back of the whirlpool jet for a Whirlpool brand hot tub. I highly recommend JB WaterWeld; it worked great. To fix the leak, wearing nitrile gloves, I mixed 3 sticks at a time and then formed them into a rope shape with my bare hands and then pressed a ring around the back of the leaking nozzle. I let it sit for 24 hours (the pack says 1 hour but I gave 24 hours to be sure) and the leak was fixed. Remember to (1) mix thoroughly with gloves on for about 2 minutes until color is uniform (2) start applying JB WaterWeld as soon as you mix it (within 1 minute) as it has a short working time has and starts to lose tack and start to harden about 5 minutes after mixing (3) If you are applying it without gloves (I did this to get a better feel of the product when pressing it in place) , be sure to dry your hands with a cloth and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water as soon as possible (because the material hardens like concrete, so you don't want to leave it on your skin). Regularly I would use a pair of blending gloves and a separate pair of application gloves (as it will stick to a pair of blending gloves it is best to remove it from the blending gloves, shape and apply with separate gloves). As such it is an amazingly powerful product that will help stop leaks (PVC and fiberglass in my case) when mixed thoroughly and applied to the affected area quickly after mixing. And don't forget to wash your hands with soap and water afterwards. PS Before using JB WaterWeld I tried to stop the leak with GE II silicone and the silicone didn't stop the leak at all. So I recommend JB WaterWeld, especially if you need to attach the dripper to the back of your spa jet.

Pros
  • CURING AND CURING TIME: WaterWeld takes 25 minutes to cure after hand mixing the 2 part formula and cures in 1 hour. JB Weld WaterWeld is cured and the curing color is off-white.
Cons
  • Not the best
