Review on Skyjacker H7023 Softride Hydro Absorber by Christian Byrd

I bought these for my 2004 Ford Excursion 4WD diesel car which has a curb weight of 7800 pounds. Before buying, I knew little about shock absorbers. I was looking for a better ride than OEM shocks with 100,000 miles on them. I assumed these would fit the bill. They fit, but that's it. They certainly made for a smooth ride that's a bit reminiscent of riding a guinea pig. Do you remember the TV series "Flipper"? I towed my truck into the garage and the next morning it was still bouncing. I was hoping this would help and I could monetize it, but that didn't happen. I called Skyjacker and spoke to an unsympathetic representative whose name began with "M" and ended with "ik". Maybe a boy from a neighboring town would enjoy such a sickening ride, he said. Reiiiiiiiiiiii. He said the Hydro was not intended to be a heavy machine. I asked why the Skyjacker website says they fit in my truck. He didn't answer. Besides, he didn't care when I informed him about the unfitness to drive – an evasive maneuver would be impossible. Moral of the story: if your car weighs more than a can of beer, don't buy these shocks. And there are probably better companies out there than Skyjacker. :( This taught me that a soft shock absorber like the Skyjacker Hydro should be used for a light SUV like a Jeep. My truck weighs as much as 3 jeeps so they weren't good!
