Required a bike cable long enough to wrap around the base of our air conditioner and then run through the frames of three kids bikes. This is just right with plenty of extra length to allow kids (4, 6 & 8) to maneuver their bikes enough to get on and off on their own; It doesn't take intense Tetris to fit all the bikes in the room. We have a combination lock that works well with it and kids can use it on their own too. Someone "borrowed" one of our kid's bikes a few weeks ago and left it on the sidewalk a block and a half from us. It was probably another neighborhood kid, so we didn't look for a sturdy lock - I doubt stray kids in my area carry bolt cutters, but it's perfect for deterring other reckless drivers.
