I wasn't sure if they would work when I first ordered them. I installed a new American Standard Champion toilet with long hold down screws and tall screw covers. The DANCO toilet pinch bolts were made of brass and stainless steel, so I was drawn to the ability of these metals to resist rusting. Toilet flanges can be high or low depending on plumbing and plumbing conditions. I had a low profile Oatey flange over a new porcelain stoneware floor. There was enough room in the stainless steel flange ring to mount small brass sockets that fit into the hold down bolt slots in the flange. These DANCO sockets have a cylindrical "nut" that is loose enough for the socket to fit under the flange slot - the nut stays on top of the flange and the brass socket slides under the top of the flange and enters the flange slot with the bolt. You then align the bases the correct distance from the wall (in my case the standard 12 inches) for each base on opposite sides of the flange. DANCO then supplies two plastic rails that you can use to mount the toilet to the flange by inserting two blue plastic rails through the mounting holes in the bottom of the toilet. Each blue guide has a rib that acts as a thickness marker. If the "edge" of the toilet mount allows the mark to be higher than the surface of the toilet, you do not need the included extension. When the mark is above the bar, simply thread the stainless steel screw into the sockets (after pulling the blue plastic guides out of the sockets) and hand tighten the screws using the plastic piece that fits over the screw head. It pulls easily and tightly. The best part is that it has a low profile and no tall plastic lids sticking out of the toilet lips. The caps are designed to cover screw heads leaving a nice, uncluttered, low profile mount. As a bonus, none of the components are made of rusty iron or steel! I was amazed at the quality and style of the finished product! It's worth every penny!
