Review on πŸ”§ Genuine GM 12639250 Crankshaft Oil Seal Housing, Rear - Premium Quality for Optimum Engine Performance by Sangmin Barrett

Replacing this part should be easy. I thought my rear main oil seal was leaking

This solved my oil leak on my 2003 Suburban! I highly recommend this part if you have an oil leak between the engine and gearbox (make sure it doesn't go over the top of the gearbox or through it). If you can repair and fix your transmission, replacing this part should be easy. I thought my rear main seal was leaking but found that the leak was due to a faulty seal on the rear cover. The protector/guide of the white seal confused me a bit and then I found the right answers. The original seal for my SUV had a reversible seal. The inner lip faces inward while the outer lip faces outward. The guide served to hold the seal in the correct position during assembly and was an important assembly tool. The updated sealing lips entering this part are all outward facing and the guide is now just a tread. The first piece I received had no profile and the seal had a few small creases. I contacted IAMGMPARTS and they sent me another part (after a week delay, longer story). The replacement part also had no profile, but the gasket was fine. I simply pressed the protector into the seal from the inside.
