This is my seat on the sofa and as you can see it is very far from the coffee table. It's a bit difficult when I have something to eat or drink. We all used TV stands when we were kids, but they're not the prettiest. It's a great compromise. This is a chic addition to the typical TV tray that fits right under our sofa. I chose not to use casters but there are 4 in the kit. As a lady put it together - took about 20 minutes to assemble - very easy and comes with instructions and wrenches to really tighten the bolts.
