I'm not an electrician but I can do it myself at home. My stepdad taught me how to wire switches and outlets when I was in high school. He was one of those handymen who seemed to get things done by themselves. I had never installed one of these boxes before and it took me about an hour of scouring the web looking for this product to put it all together. First I tried screwing sockets into this box and used the wrong holes to line them up. I have experienced many disappointments. Then, once I figured out how it all came together, it was just a matter of putting it all together and then tightening the screws one at a time. Now that I have one case ready I will spend the day traveling from Home Depot to Home Depot to find the three other waterproof cases I need to complete the project. If you want to get it right, start by tightening the top and bottom screws of each socket, or toggle about a turn and a half. Enough to hook and stay in place. Then attach the waterproof cover by aligning these screws so they rise and go through the slotted holes. This is where it gets tricky. You then start using the provided screws that came with the cover to screw the cover into switches or outlets. Alignment requires some patience. With a little push and push with the screw, find the threaded holes and then start screwing them in a bit. The styrofoam gasket doesn't have those four little holes that need to be punched. But if you push just one screw in, the foam comes loose easily, giving you a perfect gap right over the main screw holes. To align these four holes, you need to gently press the switches or sockets. Once that's done, you're pretty much at the finish line. Just tighten all the screws and make sure the waterproof foam is in place before tightening the screws. I would love to film this whole procedure but I need to finish this project by New Year's Eve 2014 for the new patio party. Just to note that it took two short jumpers to connect two outlets and I took two short jumpers and connected the wires together. Make sure you push all cords as close to the outlets as possible, as you don't have much room behind them in this box. I had to make sure the wings on the wire nut were turned flat and pressed against the bushings and I had no problem closing and tightening the lid on the box.
