I originally wanted this in my bedroom but due to my recent ear surgery I couldn't stand the noise. It's not a soft whisper or unusually loud, it's just on and you know it. My other one is smaller and I can barely hear it so I left it in my bedroom and put this one in the bathroom. It works great there and serves as a night light. After installation, the humidity in our bathroom dropped from 90% to 57%. We drain about once a week. It heats both the adapter and the top of the humidifier slightly.
