Reduces time and effort compared to manual cleaning, but still requires an effective cleaner, and the weight of the drill can wear down your arm, wrist, arm and even shoulder over time when cleaning vertical surfaces and/or when using a large drill. Pads can also stick together and wear out relatively quickly if they have a lot of deposits. A few tips and tricks: CUSHIONS: There is no difference between blue and white cushions except for the colour. You don't have to press hard for the pads to work. Excessive pressure wears out the pads (and your hand) relatively quickly, can overheat the drill bit, and scratch or scratch the surface depending on the surface and cleaner used. I've had no problem using washers on a glass shower door, glazed ceramic tile walls, and a plastic basin. If the pad sticks together, flip it over and use the other side. If they are still in good condition after washing, toss them in the wash along with the rags and/or rugs. air dry. DRILLS: 18-20 volt drill/screwdrivers work well, but their size and weight can be bulky and wear out your hand and wrist fairly quickly, especially when used on vertical surfaces. Consider a compact 18 volt drill, or even better, a 12 volt drill (see photo). Their smaller size and weight make them easier to work with, and most modern 12V models offer the same torque and power as larger drills did just a few years ago. I find that using it at higher speeds works best. Have at least one extra fully charged battery ready. ADDITIONAL ADJUSTMENT: Since the pad holder attaches directly to the end of the drill, you have to work relatively close to the surface to be cleaned. There is some spatter (though less than most brush nozzles). To reduce spatter on yourself and the drill, consider lengthening the drill. The shoe holder fits standard bit extensions which are typically 2" to 12" long (see photos for examples). It can also help reduce bending and reach hard-to-reach places. CLEANING PRODUCTS: You can try a relatively safe cleaning product first, such as high pH) properties of lime. Vinegar breaks down and dissolves limescale. Consider a solution of 95% vinegar (weak acid) and 5% dish soap (surfactant). It is effective at removing scale/scum/body oil and is less damaging to surfaces, skin, eyes or lungs compared to harsh detergents. , phosphoric and/or glycolic acid. They can damage your drill's surfaces including glazed tiles, metals, etc., and can damage or severely irritate your skin, eyes, and respiratory system (especially in small spaces/enclosed spaces). In addition, chlorine bleach has little effect on limescale. Avoid homemade decoctions that require both vinegar (acid) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is a base. Acid and base simply neutralize each other. The resulting reactive by-products of this mixture are water, gaseous carbon dioxide and sodium acetate, which has no appreciable cleaning properties. Also, baking soda alone has no appreciable effect on hard water deposits since both are alkaline (high pH). Spray/wet the surface with the cleaner and leave for a while (note: unless you are using a harsh cleaner which can damage the surface if left on). You can also add more product just before using the pads. Rinse the surface immediately afterwards. If necessary, repeat the process. Whatever you use, consider eye/face protection, as well as non-porous gloves (like nitrile) and long-sleeved suits. Also think of a suitable respirator. (When using vinegar, I use an MSA half mask with acid gas cartridges.) Turn on at least one exhaust fan and/or open a window or windows if you have one.
