These drill guides are as solidly built (and made in the USA no less) as they are useful for taking the guesswork out of drilling, especially when working under time constraints with expensive materials that need to be done quickly and correctly in the first place once. When it comes to precision and control, they will never completely replace a power drill or more precise devices. But for drilling and tapping on the fly and getting into tight spaces without disassembly, these little guides save time and work wonders in the right hands. They're definitely not for mechanical engineering, but for most applications that require drilling depths less than 4 inches, and assuming the workpiece is clamped properly, they should be fairly accurate to within 1/32 inch. They are tough enough to withstand everyday use. Provided the drill is held steady to prevent axial grinding. At first I was concerned that the guides might be made out of some crappy metal, but I quickly realized that they're actually made out of something better than tool steel or maybe a powder sintering process. Hardness measurements, but if an M2 steel blade can't penetrate there, that's enough for me.
