Works on 90% of hotels

Stayed in 2 hotels on a trip. Didnt work on the older hotel with older, more wonky doors, but worked perfectly on the newer hotel. If you're staying at a chain hotel or a newer airbnb, definitely recommend. I felt very safe. I could even bring it in my carry on for the plane. TSA didn't deny me.
