If grounded so that the "LED" illuminates the switch, it gets very hot! I read several other reviews that commented on the same issue. These switches are rated for 16 amps, they shouldn't get hot when loaded with 3 amps! I used a switch for 2 x 18w off road high beam led headlights with a total draw of 3 amps so the electrical load is not a problem. I disconnected the ground from the LED in the switch and the heat problem went away. It got so hot I was afraid the plastic switch would melt. To update. I've used the switch for off-road lights on a UTV for the past few months with intermittent results. I often have to toggle the switch off and on to turn the light back on when it accidentally turns off due to shock. There is a bad connection in the switch itself. I've tried a few of them and over time they just started interfering and randomly turning off. I removed the switch and plugged right in, rode the trails with no issues. I've also noticed a pattern after washing the UTV a few times where the derailleur happened to be working, if this has happened to 2 derailleurs I'm now ordering the third lucky 10! Oh I would advise not to use them for marine applications, they are definitely not up to my standards.
