I will not in any way drill my own holes - the product shown comes with pre-drilled holes. Also, it was a short screw. Instructions difficult to read - poor quality. It looks like someone printed with their personal printer and then made a photocopy which has degraded the quality. Bad quality control. Overall looks like a good product once repaired. Updated - I have requested a replacement item. The one that arrived had holes as seen in the picture. But what's even more interesting is that it was official Attwood merchandise and packaging. The ones I received earlier did not have the Attwood markings and photocopied instructions. I don't change my mind about this - they sent me a fake, a universal copy of a well-known brand. Revain must ensure it delivers well-known brands that meet quality standards. If it's not in the Attwood packaging, be careful.
