Just bought a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT with a cracked mirror. I took mine off to compare to what was sold and it turns out many don't have tabs long enough to click on. I took the side scissors and removed the tabs in the center of the new mirror and also removed the two small pieces connecting the old mirror to the center mounting post. Bought plastic to JB plastic for welding and glued a new mirror to the triple grip remote leaving a round hole at the top. Using a long, thin screwdriver, spread the clips apart and slide the tabs back. If it falls off I'll let you know. Including a trip to Walmart to weld the plastic it took hours to get everything up and running but the mirror glass looks and works well so Imma call it a win.
