Review on Waterproof Flint and Steel for Hiking and Backpacking: 6in x 0.5in + Survival Lanyard & Whistle - Ideal for Camping, Adventure, Barbecue and Outdoor Activities (6) by Chris Burks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent ferro staff and forward. However expensive.

The whistle is cheap and flimsy, and the main strands of paracord lack the best survival gear like fishing line, sewing thread, or fire rope. Paracord is approximately 4 feet long which limits outdoor use. The ferrorod is very strong, six inches long and half an inch in diameter. It lasts forever and sparkles well so it's worth getting. If this is your first time using ferro rods, make sure you scrape off the black paint to reveal the silver spark-proof material before judging. As time goes on I'm more and more impressed with these cheap stamped metal heads. They usually have at least one sharp edge that's great for hitting, and the serrated concave end is pretty good for scraping shavings out of the ferrorods with my tinder. It's all installed and the price doesn't impress me. I bought two of these from another seller for about the same price as this one. Recommended if you can find it at a lower price. Be sure to check out the prices.
