These buckled cleats worked well enough for me to hike north in Minnesota in late February to check out the falls. Of course, since these aren't huge spikes, there were some slips and slips, but considering that, they handled themselves pretty well. I lost some real boots but was grateful for the extra ones that came with the kit and were easy to put on. I highly recommend using them during the spring thaw/refreeze season to keep them upright. I used them several times for hiking in the spring and will definitely use them next winter.
