Bought this camera for beach and wet photography. The instruction manual is very basic, but the controls are very similar to other compact brands. The first half-dozen photos were blurry, but after the scene was changed to a beach and adjusted to 16-megapixel resolution, the photos were excellent. I took many underwater photos of my grandson holding his breath and blowing bubbles and up close they came out great. You have to keep in mind that this is a pool of chemicals and will be murky. The further I went, the fuller they got. The video underwater and of the surf behind him doing boogie-woogie was amazing. I also shot a video of him jumping in the pool so the transition from crystal clear above water to underwater was excellent. I left the mic plug in as I didn't risk water ingress, but for normal video from the water it needs to be open so I don't expect any audio issues as some have said. I used a 16GB SanDisk MICRO. SD card. Watch out for MICRO. And it's formatted and working fine. Finally, IT DID NOT LEAK AT ALL. I've had it up to 8 feet (as deep as a pool) and not a single fall. It is extremely important to do a second check to ensure the battery and micro SD card door is fully closed and latched. I see issues leading to some comments when the door was simply closed after loading and not visually inspected. I close the door and BODY PUSH THE WORK LOCK TO THE CLOSED POSITION. Do it and you shouldn't have any problems. I rode the waves with him, jumped in the pool with him and swam with him on my wrist. No problem. If you want magazine-quality photos of or underwater, spend 3K on a Nikon underwater camera. For personal photos without having to worry about water or sand getting into the camera, this is great value and you'll get great shots.
