Review on Portable LED Mobile Task Lamp - OttLite Black, Lightweight, Battery-Operated, Carrying Handle by Dee Scott

Great light while it works, but designed to fail.

This new flashlight delivers the usual OttLite quality of light. Not very bright but I used it for reading in bed and it was enough. The only problem I had was that the batteries were very easy to separate; No wow what a deal. Here's the catch: this light comes with a two-year warranty. I had two and both stopped working shortly after the warranty expired. In both cases the light started behaving as if the cord was loose or damaged - I could only open it up to a certain point, and some positions just didn't work at all. I worked up the courage to open this one. The wires from the case where the batteries are located to the headlights go through the connection where the headlight opens and closes. At this point the real wires are encased in a thin rubber tube I think to protect them, but that tube was damaged at the narrowest point of the connection. I suspect the wires inside were also damaged, but I didn't go that far. As a result, this flashlight is poorly designed in terms of protecting internal wiring and is doomed to fail. Buy carefully.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Multiplier Set
