I was looking for a replacement for a 15 year old canon 40D. I'm not a professional photographer in the sense that I don't make money from photography. I was very pleased with my 40d and this camera has accompanied me on many trips for many years. Then I immediately invested in expensive optics 24-70 f2.8 L, 135 f2.0 L and 200 f2.8 L. I thought that I would switch to full format, but for many years I did not want to change 40D. I read a lot of reviews about canon 6d mII, canon eos 90d and canon eos R. And so I decided to try canon eos R. The first impression when you picked up canon eos R was that you were thrown. Ergonomically, the camera is not like a $2,000 camera. This miracle is more like my compact canon powershot G6! Once upon a time there was one! The buttons are small and hard to press. The 24-70 with adapter outweighs the flimsy construction. The feeling that the mount is about to break. I do not argue about the functionality and excellent quality of photos. Although autofocus on the eyes did not convince with focus accuracy. To be honest, this function is more like a toy. The tested instance also had 7 dead pixels. Yes, it's probably not easy to switch from a DSLR to a compact camera. Therefore, I decided to buy a canon eos 6d mii. This is a more worthy replacement for the canon 40D. Although the canon 40D with a metal case is ergonomically more convenient than the plastic canon 6d mII. It can be seen that with regard to cameras, progress is going in the opposite direction.
