I did not hardwire these lights. I bought these specifically because they could be used without hardwiring - I wanted to be able to change my mind about the location with as little fuss (like putty and paint) as possible. I use these reading lights by the side of my bed and they are wonderful. I bought Edison bulbs to go with it, but I think standard LEDs wouldn't look bad either - although spiral bulbs would look a bit more obvious, but I guess it ultimately depends on your use and purpose for them. I installed them myself in about 10 minutes (for two) with little effort (i.e. tape measure, pencil, spirit level, drill). Looks nice. you are doing great work Good price.
