This product is a piece of crap. Please watch my video. It probably needs an engineer to install it properly, and even then it wobbles, the screws don't tighten, the parts don't fit properly. I measured, drilled holes, assembled, crooked and loose. I'm starting again with small adjustments, still crooked! The glass part is too heavy for a fragile hand, so it's sloping down now. The second time it was crooked I decided to drill a hole inside that you screw to the wall. Still wrong! Now I'm stuck

I did not hardwire these lights. I bought these specifically because they could be used without hardwiring - I wanted to be able to change my mind about the location with as little fuss (like putty and paint) as possible. I use these reading lights by the side of my bed and they are wonderful. I bought Edison bulbs to go with it, but I think standard LEDs wouldn't look bad either - although spiral bulbs would look a bit more obvious, but I guess it ultimately depends on your use and purpose for

In general, I like this lamp. My issue is the mounting hardware and weight balance. It's so unbalanced I was worried it would break out of the wall, so I ended up disassembling it, installing the back plate, and then remounting the lamp to the wall itself so it wouldn't come off the wall as much. This is a really good flashlight when taken out of the box, quite well made, the finish is nice, the glass ball is very nice. Out of the box it looked very good. Then installation. Value for money. It's not the best metal, but if you're careful not to scratch it during installation, it will look great and perform well. The instructions aren't great, but it's pretty intuitive. I was planning to use a cable. I recommend marking the position by removing the backplate, aligning the parts and drilling pilot holes, then screwing the plate down and reinstalling the lamp over the plate. The holes matched well.
