I ordered an external CD drive as my laptop does not have a CD drive. I want to buy Turbotax, but the download version costs $10 more than the external CD drive. Even though I only use this external drive occasionally, I still decided to buy an external drive. I confess that I have some doubts that no other software is needed. In many cases, if you purchase other hardware, you will need to install other software to make it work instead of using it with this product. I plugged it into a USB port and it started up immediately. My computer was able to recognize the drive. I highly recommend this product.
