This is a $12 plastic bottle. One might think that there is a certain quality in it. But no! It doesn't hold a vacuum. If your pump can switch to pressure like mine, try submerging the bottle and see if it's leakproof. I, like everyone else, have a leaky lid. I'll try sanding the lid as one reviewer suggested. They really shouldn't be charging more than $5 for this type of junk. EDIT: Looping didn't work. I ended up wrapping it with 7-8 turns of teflon tape and now it's airtight. I don't think I will ever open again.
