This filter is amazing. Our pool is so clean and quiet now. I took the filter apart and took it apart to add activated carbon and rinse it out. Have been doing it twice a month but I think it's actually starting to work better after it catches a bit so I'll start doing 4 weeks between filter backwashes. With a mini model in a 10 gallon tank, it is small but very well suited for a 10 gallon tank. do your job Update 1 1/2 years later. Still works great. I just rebuild the filter and clean the engine parts (which are easy to pull out and magnetize again). Adding an updated photo (with white sand). With this super small silent filter (), the tank is still perfectly balanced. I wish I had known that many years ago. Not only does it work great, but it also saves water thanks to its waterfall filters that greatly reduce water evaporation. I've worked a full 3 months without cleaning the filter and I feel like it could probably keep working. Just be careful not to disturb the live colony (after spawning), use the aquarium water in a separate container to keep this culture safe while you work with the filter. I'll take a picture of the useful colony and update it next time I'm there. After disassembling the supplied filter, I discard the contents of the old activated carbon and then clean the blue screen and plastic housing very well. I replace the already clean (blue) filter media and add some Fluval Clearmax. It only takes a gram or two, make sure you don't overfill. You want it loose and NOT tightly packed. I used to close it up and put on a small elastic, but I found that the elastic is not needed. Just close it, slide it back in, fill it up by holding it under water and deflating. then let it run for another 1-3 months. Great product, you won't be disappointed. Keep a few tips in mind. Plants and bottom feeders are also balanced in my aquarium. 1 beta, 1 measles, 1 otocinclus and 1 snail. Feeds only beta and very little. The rest of the guys live off the tank itself, without her. he will collapse. The snail cleans the glass, the measles stick to the sand, and it scratches everything and never stops cleaning. the hardest working one I have. Good sand also helps the ecosystem. ;) - I hope this helps someone.
