Bought a Toyota 86 last March (five months ago). Oil change at 5k. I noticed the washer but like my 2003 Toyota Tundra (which I just replaced the drain plug gasket on my last oil change) didn't think to change it. I thought it was good (like the tundra) for a while. I was wrong. I think the difference is the Tundra washer is vinyl and was working fine until I noticed it cracked on the last oil change. He was 18 so I figured a new drain plug gasket wouldn't hurt at that point. ha. Back to the Toyota 86, which of course we all know is basically a Subaru engine when it comes to the block. A crush washer is used on the oil drain plug; not like the washers on my 1st gen tundra. Those on the Model 86 are mostly disposable and will not seal securely once they have been "crushed". I found this out after realizing my poor '86 oil was bleeding like arterial bleeding, puddles just below the drain plug. Before the oil change it wasn't leaking at all so I knew it was 99.99% a drain plug gasket. At least I hoped so. I ordered these new pressure washers. Fits perfectly. Attach the flat side to the screw head, the curved side to the drain pan and torque to 29 ft./lbs. I put the cardboard under the car and so far not a drop has come out. Cheap. Get them and use new ones at every oil change.
