I upgraded my heat pump thermostat to a programmable one and my heat pump has never turned on after that. After a little scratching my head and looking around, I found a blown fuse. Apparently it was the "E" fuse. After searching, I found I was looking at it upside down. Actually it was "3". As it turns out, this 3A fuse is very common in thermostats. Looks like the fuses I'm familiar with in cars, but I couldn't find a 3 amp fuse locally. I didn't like doing this but I used a 5 amp car fuse until they came in the mail so I could use my heat pump. I replaced the 5 amp fuse with this new 3 amp fuse and it works properly. Now I feel better knowing that if something goes wrong, nothing will burn.
