Tried to get it to work without a hub. Finally deserves ONE. The hub was listed for sale for $12 and I grabbed it. Worth every penny, even at full price, IMO. There are timers and programs you can set up in the hub to secure your home by turning the lights on and off at random times. I am currently using 16 of these lamps and plan to purchase more in the future. Setup takes about a minute and a half per bulb once you get used to this method.
