With 7 children we have had several of these foldable playpens over the years and bought one with our new granddaughter while watching her. We didn't want to buy a dedicated changing table for just a few short months so we liked the idea of this unit with a changing platform and cradle level. There are a few issues with this device that you might not have with more expensive models, but overall it's a great package and game that should last us for a long time. The first thing you need to know is that the user manual is packed in a bag. on one side of the outer cover, which is also a mattress pad. This isn't a problem unless you open the box and notice it and start flying blind. I like the fact that there is a pocket for storing the manual, but there is no indication on the box that it is there. So if you don't unpack the unit with that side to you, there's a good chance you'll miss it, especially if you take on the "well, I've done that before" mentality. Putting up a playpen isn't a big one Math, but if you've never had one, be very careful that you do NOT want to tuck the sides middle tight down. The tension on the floor of the arena is very high when you lower it and it can be difficult to get it back up. I also don't think the B-pillar lifting handle is secured well as ours came loose on the first pull. The side rails in this arena are the hardest to block I've seen. Hang in there and you will get it. First I had to pin the ends, then the sides, but I ended up pinning everything. The interchangeable surface has a unique design, and that design is one of the reasons we chose this model - it's not permanently attached, so if the granddaughter is too heavy for it, she won't bother while we're doing it Use the playpen and she doesn't need to store it anywhere. The way it attaches to the playpen, just flips to the side to rest at the end, nicely out of the way. The cradle is surprisingly strong. It hangs from hooks at either end of the playpen and is also zipped on either side with two metal bars running the full length of the playpen to ensure rigidity throughout the length. The same mattress pad you use on the bottom is used for the bassinet, so our duplicates are not wasted. If the child is too big for him, just take him out and put the mattress topper on the floor. However, there really is no place to store the bassinet or bars when not in use. The storage compartment at the end makes it easy to store diapers, wipes, powder, etc. at the opposite end of the changing surface. It's not a stunning design as it just hangs from a velcro strap that goes through two loops in the edge fabric. It also suffers from a lack of rigidity on the bottom or sides, which might make it easier to use, but that's not a major flaw. This is yet another time I wish I had a half star rating. It's not perfect, but I think it's enough for us, it's easy to carry and the interchangeable finish is very convenient. It's definitely better than a disposable changing table and looks great in the living room.
