Too long for my 2005 CS3 Mitsubishi Lancer

After putting on the shift knob, it went all the way down to the base of the shift shaft. After which, I realised that the push button was not reaching down far enough to de-press the shift stick. So I did some modifications, by filling the indentation on the underside of the button (which I still don't get why they did that in the first place), then screwed in a long enough phillip's head screw into that filled gap. Now it works as it should, and hopefully the screw stays in place for a good while.
