Well I originally bought this VCR in the 90's when prices were falling. Before that I could never afford a Sony VCR and they started releasing TiVo stuff around the same time. It was my second VCR in the first place as my Magnavox was my main and good one until he ate the cassette and let it go. It was the end. I didn't want to give Comcast more of my money to use their DVR system and I got tangled up in the TiVo system. I decided to "stay free" and buy another VCR like the one I already had, it was a Sony. In short, this is a good video recorder, it plays well and is very easy to program. It used to set the time automatically, but I think since everything went digital it doesn't set the time automatically like it used to! That's ok, easy to set the clock too and since I have two identical VCRs I can use one remote control for both! I didn't give a star because this VCR doesn't rewind the tape as fast as my Magnavox! But I guess that's ok too, I can rewind the tape in one while watching the other. I've learned to adapt.
