Review on πŸ”§ CLT05 - Clamptite: Versatile 4 3/4" Steel/Aluminum Tool for Secure Fastening with Wingnut by Todd Cowdrey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I wish I had known that many years ago.

I love love love this thing. I bought it specifically to fix a broken air hose. At work I use pneumatic nail guns all day and recently my hose ruptured for the second time in 2 years. I just bought it and am very upset. I've tried several repair kits that used double ended barbs with tapered compression sleeves but they couldn't withstand the pressure and I had to use 2 clamps to secure the hose. This makes it more difficult to roll up the hose and sticks to everything, including people and clothing. One day I was watching something on YouTube and there was a video in the sidebar of that thing. It was clickbait, but I was irresistibly intrigued by the image. I'm so glad I saw this video. I came and ordered it immediately. The hose after the repair is almost like new. It doesn't catch on anything and you can pull it out by your hand without cutting you with sharp edges like a piece of crappy hose clamp. Now this doesn't work in tight spaces as you have to rotate the device 180 degrees to complete the cocking process. But if you have the space to use it, it's a thousand times better than a hose clamp. I actually look for excuses to use it because it makes me so happy. A bit pricey for what it is and how easy it is to make with machines. But it's still worth it because it lasts a lifetime.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
