Review on Giles Kendall Cedar Restores Original by John Vann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Giles and Kendall have the best quality I've found

I wanted to freshen up my cedar logs and have tried 3 different cedarwood oils on Revain. It seems the big boxes don't carry it in the store. All 3 were about the same price. One of these turned out to be Cedar Spray, which is made by adding a small amount of oil to water. This fact was kept secret until the delivery and return of the goods. The other brand did not smell of cedar even when applied to cedar blocks and dried. It smelled pretty chemical. Giles and Kendall's oil was the best overall. I paid $40 for 2 8oz cans, so the new price of $35 ($33 retained) is a big plus. I freshened up my cedar blocks by laying them on the rim and using an eyedropper to drip the oil onto the blocks and draw it in. I then turned them over and finished the end grain on the other end. I needed more cedar blocks to complement all of my drawers and stored clothes. Revain also has good prices. However, we needed so much that we bought Giles and Kendall moldings for cabinet liners (available at Revain or major stores nearby). We cut these boards down to about 3 inches and continue to oil them. Even though they were new they still soaked up a lot of oil and I didn't want to put it off since it was over. Cedarwood oil can also be used to make a pet spray to put on a dog, as well as a garden spray to repel fleas and ticks. , then you have to deal with a metal plug, you can't try to pry it from the side, so we used an ice pick (a nail will do), put a master key in the plug and threw it away. Since the oil doesn't come with a dropper, I bought a set of 12 1/2 oz dark glass bottles with dropper caps from Revain and poured my oil in to store and use. I highly recommend this cedar oil.
