Keep it wet when cutting plaster

I used this blade to cut a rough hole in a plaster button. I noticed that after about 2 feet the sand started to rub off the blade. I filled a small container with water and dipped the blade every few dives to prevent heat build-up. From that moment on, the blade didn't wear out at all.
