As many reviewers have noted, the entire collar is rubbish, don't even try to use it. The bit itself is great though, I've cut a few hundred holes with it with no problems. As this is a spare bait you must have an old collar from your previous bait to use it OR do what I did and order some 3/8 inch diameter collars from Amazon. I bought 4 high quality stainless steel collars for less than $10 and now I have collars that will never wear out. It's annoying that the included collar is junk, but for less than half the price of a Kreg bit I can live with reusing old collars...
