Not sure how this would work in an older car but this cup holder is oversized and takes up quite a bit of seating. I can only use it when I'm alone in the car. The holder is inserted between the center console and the seat, but the main body must rest against the seat cushion and possibly block the seat belt attachment. I'm sure it will work on some big cars or trucks but it still takes up too much space. I really don't use this cup holder anymore. It's a good idea and has potential, but it doesn't suit my needs.
