Review on πŸ”§ Funsoba 35mm Concealed Hinge Jig Kit: Ultimate Drill Guide for Precision Woodworking, Perfect for Inset Kitchen Cabinet Door Hinges! by Adam Bates

Very accurate, good quality, a few minor issues and errors

Comes with a 35mm chisel. However, the cam offset adjusters are set to 26mm bit. In order for the offsets to be accurate you must remove the two adapters that convert it for use with a 26mm bit. I've included a video on how to do it. I hope this saves some of you some time. I spent 20-30 minutes trying to figure out why all the offsets by 5mm were "rejected". Item must be shipped with adapters in a plastic case with bits and other accessories not attached to the cams. Some printed detailed instructions mentioning adapters would also be helpful. Instructions are printed on cardboard and very poor machine translation. Two adapters are not mentioned. However, once you remove the 26mm adapters, that mount is there. One of the photos shows my homemade clamp, which I use to mount a drill guard to drill 35mm diameter holes with 3mm or 4mm offset. I adjusted this new clip to 3mm and it fitted my old mount perfectly. I plan to use it for remote work when I don't have access to a drill press. The bracket also has holes and a small drill bit for making holes for the hinge. This eliminates the need to carefully match the hinge to the cabinet door before marking these holes. It also has a large pin that can be adjusted to 3", 3.5" or 4" to quickly set the offset position from the top or bottom of the door. The resulting hole isn't as clean as my 35 -mm forstner bit. The bit with this template only has one set of bits for the outside edge of the hole, compared to 3 or 4 sets of bits on my forstner bit. I checked and my old 35mm bit fits in the metal guide for this jig, but the shank is too short to use with the depth gauge ring.little.but once clamped it's really not a factor in terms of accuracy.only a small issue with long term durability really.I have about 0.5 too mm play in the metal rail that screws onto the plastic case. Because of this I've noticed some variability in the offsets, but again it's pretty slight. Overall, I'm very happy to have this tool in my hands to have a collection. I don't mind spending a lot of money on tools that I use every day. But with such tools, my main concern is low price, functionality and accuracy. It's very reasonably priced and, in my testing, fairly accurate and easy to use (after you remove those two adapters anyway).
