Review on 🧵 Premium All-Purpose Sewing Thread Pack of 4 - Mandala Crafts Polyester Thread for Serger, Overlock, Quilting, and Sewing Machines in 40S/2 White by Dawn Fischer

Bought a set of five spools of 6,000 yards of 40 yard two ply polyester thread in black, white and three neutral colors. I've been sewing on a machine from time to time for 30 years, but I don't really know much about this craft. Since purchasing this thread I have sewn several hundred feet of masks and dust covers for vintage radios with good results and no problems. What is overlock? I don't even know if overlock is legal in Idaho!) Other reviewers have noted that these reels work on a standard machine even if they wobble. I decided to make a simple spool adapter out of a standard empty spool of thread. As shown in the photo I ground the flange off one end of the spool and then inserted it into the bottom of the serger spool. It fits snugly and can be easily removed and reused with another serger bobbin. I took a photo comparing Mandala thread (bottom photo) to 20 year old Coates & Clark Dual Duty Cotton-Polyester thread (top photo). The photo was taken after the items had been threaded through a standard machine and threaded through a 90/14 universal needle. The cotton covering of the mandala thread is not woven as tightly as in the old Coates & Clark. So maybe not the best quality but it doesn't matter for my sewing. Others find that some coils appear to be less filled than others. I found this to be the case and estimated the discrepancy by weighing the coils. My five coils differed by less than 10 percent. While some would suspect this indicates a shortage, one could just as easily assume that the smallest spool was a full 6000 yards and others had extra thread. In any case, the product is so inexpensive that not much attention is paid to this issue. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. For my purposes this stash will last more than a lifetime and I will be buying it again when Revain ships to the skies.
