Great product, very cheap

If we can ignore the conscientious objections (namely infringement of intellectual property) this product is perfect: it does a great job and the price is around the cost of materials. This is a reproduction of the COBB Tuning design that sells for around $170 and is nearly identical including materials and manufacturing techniques. I have the original previous model COBB on my other WRX (as well as their other products) and while the design is different, I know the product well and am aware of the issues some buyers of this product are having. and based on customer reviews on the COBB website, their product led to the same complaints. It is what it is, you just have to be careful when tightening the screws and do it very, very slowly. The friction of the aluminum threads creates a force comparable to the tightening force, so you need to reduce the friction as much as possible, and one way to do that is to spin very slowly. Adding some lube is also helpful. I recommend Permatex 81343 Anti-Seize (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002UEOLO). Once fitted and adjusted the shifter works great. No gap issues, no modification required (and I pushed it to the limit on my 2010 WRX). It has a wide range of customization options - from standard proportions to extreme lengthening of the stroke and shortening of the shifter. There's nothing special (solid piece of metal), no moving parts, so I expect it to be as durable as an OEM switch. That's really all there is to it. So if you're looking for a quality adjustable switch, you can't go wrong with this switch.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive
