Review on Upgrade Your Display with Viotek GFV27DAB: 165Hz Widescreen with Adaptive Sync and High Definition by Nathan Copenhaver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent, with some flaws

So overall this monitor looks great and I really enjoy most of the games I play on it. Pros: - Movies look crisp and pictures are really impressive - Menus are easy to use and navigate - Monitor is very responsive at over 100 fps. and overdrive seems to help a lot - g-sync works although it's a compatible version, not a hardware version - HDR works and really makes a difference when screens are full of very bright and dark ones - RGB in the background is nice and cyclic (not adjustable except on and off) - thin power cord is easier to store and hide. - comes with a strong and shielded Displayport cable - the stand is quite adjustable and tall. It's pretty easy to remove if you want to install a monitor instead. - The bevel is small, about an inch up and 1.5 down on the sides. Works for me, but if I were to create a multi-monitor display I'd like a smaller bevel. Cons - IMPORTANT - Games locked at 60fps or below will have STRONG ghosting and overdrive will NOT help. I sent a query to Viotek customer service and they said it was a monitor error and there was nothing they could do about it. I asked if they were planning to update the firmware to fix this issue and they said no. HDR limits other settings, so it's very rarely useful. The power off button is behind the screen and has to be held down, so it's kind of a pain.

Pros
  • It's a great budget buy, but I've had it for less than a month and it has a dead pixel.
