Edit to add: I made 2 small cuts with scissors on either side of the tongue and this completely eliminated the pain in the tongue. The tension is gone and it no longer digs into my skin. I'll be ordering another pair now knowing the tongue can be easily repaired. This is my first pair of Altras. I just drove it for the first time and was very impressed. I've been running barefoot for the last 12 years but after a recent back injury I was advised to use something with some cushioning. Other shoes with cushioning were too big in the heel or too heavy and really blew my game, I wanted zero drops and they fit the bill perfectly. Zero drop with thick pad. The ride was great, the zero drop was comfortable for me when walking barefoot while the cushioning helped absorb shock and I noticed my back didn't hurt at all afterwards as it had been with my bare feet for a while . Other size and tongue ratings should fit the bill. I originally ordered my normal size but had to go back a half size up. Half a size more comfortable. The tongue is the only weak point of this shoe for me. I still gave it 5 stars because I felt great biomechanically while running, but the tongue is a real headache. As if nobody had tested them before entering the market. Even walking before running, I could feel my tongue digging into the front of my ankle. Really very bad design. The material is thin and tough and will cut you. I'll probably try cutting my tongue off with scissors to take the pressure off as I prefer to wear socks to show. The workaround isn't too complicated so I'm still a fan. Hopefully my next pair of Altras will have a better tongue, but other than that I love these shoes. Fingers crossed they have reasonable shelf life.
