Review on Samyang SY12M FX SIL Fujifilm X Mount Cameras by Dimitar Kuzmanov ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best quality, but generally not bad.

They say that this is a good lens for landscapes, but they say that the slight increase in viewing angle compared to 16mm is meaningless while photographing whales. At the moment, I can envision its application for the aim of photographing subjects inside in order to obtain a picture free from ripples and mosquito sounds.

Pros
  • - If you use an aperture of F2, you may photograph at an ISO of up to 1000, but for a whale ranging from 16-50 I needed an ISO of 2022 or more. - The sharpness is already satisfactory at F2
Cons
  • - if the sharpness at F11 is still acceptable, then at F13.5 it is already considerably worse, and then the picture is generally murky - there is ED glass in the scheme, but the chromaticity is not less than that of a cheap whale 16-50, if not more - very significant distortion. - if the sharpness at F11 is still acceptable, then at F13.5 it is already much worse. Despite the fact that it is a 12mm lens (nearly fish), when recording handheld and using matrix stabilization, the picture in the video occasionally appears to "dive" to the sides, which, in my opinion, looks awful. - price. despite the fact that $200 is significantly less than the typical cost of native optics. It would be wasteful of my money for me to spend $200 on a game that I would then be dissatisfied with and put away. By the way, the price of this lens is significantly lower on the secondary market than it is on the market for brand new lenses due to the significant decrease in demand.
