I bought this to replace the same Sharp microwave/convection combi oven that was 20 years old. This version is generally worse in my opinion, with one exception. First, "fit and finish" - this oven has a noticeable offset between the door and control panel which looks like poor workmanship - the door hangs slightly below the oven body. , sort of like a sagging closet door. Second, the door opener button is clumsy, like it doesn't work properly and fails. It got stuck this morning (with my coffee in it!), and I had to squeeze really hard to open it a few times. Bad sign. Third, the microwave is quite underpowered. Twenty years ago 900 watts was low and I was hoping that number would improve over the last 20 years but no. Of course, when I bought these, I knew that I just find it weird when the cheap microwaves you can get at Walmart have higher wattage. even weaker microwave than before. How do I know? Every morning I heat up the same amount of the same thing in the same container. It used to take 1 minute + 45 seconds, now it takes 2 minutes + 10 seconds. What gives? If this isn't a change in how the oven works, maybe it's because the turntable is now some sort of ceramic instead of metal before, and maybe the new turntable absorbs some of the microwave energy? When it comes to microwaves, I think speed is key, so that's definitely another downside. Fifth, the new microwave turntable is smaller. WHY? ? The inside of the oven looks the same size. On the plus side, the convection oven appears to have a more accurate thermostat on this new model. The old oven was quite a distance away (about 25F), but this one is much closer to the set temperature (when measured with the same oven thermometer). Another positive point is that the display backlight is brighter on this model. The old display was never too dim or dim so it's not a huge plus, I'm just trying to give an objective assessment of the new model. fit into the installation space that the old SHARP occupied. Due to the older model's performance and design, I didn't hesitate to buy this one, but overall I'm not thrilled. It's just "okay".
