When you leave your apartment for the day you don't usually have the option of using a chain for that extra bit of security, especially if you live in a house, where you live they have your key. This is a great solution as you can block the chain and unlock it again from the outside. It's very strong and I had a workman install it with larger, better quality screws. You can install it yourself, but I recommend using the largest screws for your mold type. Of course, before assembly, measure your desired height as well as the distance and spacing of the chain from the lock. Very clever that there is a place in the change where you can put a tick when not in use. You can use this from the inside by keeping it locked and using the other side of the chain to lock and unlock it. Good decision.
