I work as a mechanic to make a living. In the Midwest, I walk past many cars with wires gnawed by squirrels. I use these connectors and a small butane torch to melt and shrink the solder to connect these bundles together. I bought the first pack out of curiosity, it was the second pack, I think I will use many of these in the future. I do this by stripping both ends of the wires about 3/8 inch or so, I slide the connector on one of the wires just enough so that it's out of the way, I overlap the striped portion of the wires and sort them to twist together . to keep them in place, then reseat the connector onto the connection so the solder is centered on the bare wires, then I heat it up until the solder melts and the insulation is tight on both wires. It may take a few times to figure out your own routine, but you'll be happy when you do it. They are great for cables in inclement weather, thermal insulation protects against moisture and solder ensures a reliable connection
