Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Allstar 63 Amp 1-Wire Alternator - Model ALL80500 by James Duffield

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to set up and still works.

We fitted this alternator to a 1978 Triumph Spitfire that we use in endurance racing. For the 24-hour race in June 2012 we needed more power for the auxiliary headlights. Needed a new bracket and longer strap to fit, but was easy enough with a few generic parts from the local auto parts store. A wire connection and it worked. Used six 55 watt bulbs and an electric fan above the regular ignition and brake lights and had no problems. Works to date (10/30/2012) - Great generator for the price. The autostart function works at a fairly low rpm, we don't need to increase the engine rpm to turn it on. This device does not require an ignition connection. Enough power for older cars when you need a quick and easy install for more amps to cover higher powered lights or maybe a high amp stereo. A cable is easy to install, just make sure you have a good thick cable from it to the battery. We had to hook it up across the race switch, but if you're only wiring a 12 volt vehicle to negative ground, a wire to the battery will work. Note. The original GM power connector was still hot. We didn't use it but isolated for safety reasons.
