I have a top loading cooler and 3 jugs for it, all brands from American Maid, the cheaper ones are sold at Walmart. I have a 5 gallon round bottle, a 3 gallon round bottle and a 3 gallon square bottle that can be stacked. They come with a white hard plastic lid for shipping, but American Maid doesn't make lids for loading the water cooler, so I used the method of putting plastic wrap over the spout and securing it with a small rubber band. Then poke a small hole in the middle with a knife. Not the best, but I've never managed to load these things without spilling a ton of water. Let me tell you **this list here is what you need! ** As others have said, you have to put the blue cap on the spout, but they WORK! Remove the blue tab from the top of the lid, but leave the white inner tab intact. This inner tab opens when pierced with a piece in the center of your water cooler. These caps have changed my life and make loading so easy! As a side note I hate the stackable square bottle and only bought it because they seem to have stopped making a 3 gallon round bottle and I can't easily lift a 5 gallon bottle so I prefer the smaller bottles. The square bottle has a shorter spout, making it easier to spill even more water when loading. It also doesn't sit that deep in the water cooler. So I was afraid those blue caps wouldn't work with the shorter spout, but I just used them on a square bottle and was able to load them with no spills! LOVE these things! Worth every penny! When the jug is empty they'll be pulled away from the cooler a little stubbornly because of the lid, so be prepared for that, but there's nothing to worry about.
